Four School of Communication professors received 2016 Provost’s Research Awards, which will provide salary support and direct research costs to the faculty for a wide range of research projects. School of Communication faculty received four awards, one in the arts discipline and three for research in the social sciences. UM PREP Students Support Miami Children’s Health Foundation’s Wine, Women and Shoes Event

Miami Children’s Health Foundation’s Wine, Women and Shoes is the perfect formula for a fun, fashion-filled day for women to celebrate the miracles that happen on a daily basis at the hospital. More than 600 ladies donned their highest and funkiest heels at the JW Marriott Marquis in Downtown Miami to help raise more than $600,000 while shopping in the event’s marketplace and sipping on wine. University of Miami students and local community join together for PhilADthropy 2016

This past weekend marked the seventh annual PhilADthropy at University of Miami School of Communication. The 25-hour event consisted of 13 student teams creating advertising, marketing, branding, design, and public relations materials for local nonprofit organizations. PhilADthropy and AD Group organizers selected the organizations from more than 100 entries and also reached out to alumni and industry professionals to volunteer their time and talents. Local nonprofit organizations in South Florida in need of marketing materials can now apply for University of Miami School of Communication’s seventh annual PhilADthropy. PR Students Create Campaign for Herbert Wellness Center’s 20th Anniversary

Last semester, Dr. Colee Splichal’s Public Relations Campaigns class created the campaign for the 20th anniversary of the Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center, which will take place in January 2016. The class, STC 436, is a capstone for the public relations major in which seniors apply what they have learned in the last four years to develop a campaign for a real-world client.
