Summer Journalism Interns | Nonprofit Sector News | Remote

Nonprofit Sector News, a nonprofit news organization, seeks part-time journalism interns for Summer Term 2026 after being on hiatus since August 2022. We produce original journalism (news & features) on nonprofits of all kinds nationwide and provide that news (a la news service), free to the public and other U.S. news media through a website, LinkedIn, Facebook, Medium, and local news sites nationwide. Emailed newsletters of NSN content, one version for journalists, one for the public, are planned. (Note: NSN is not a trade publication for nonprofit employees or boards, unlike Chronicle of Philanthropy, Nonprofit Quarterly, Nonprofit Times, etc., nor, unlike the AP, does it focus on philanthropists).
What You'll do:
- Interns choose their beats and must propose story ideas.
- Interns work only from home and/or their campus, conducting background research/interviews using phones, email, Zoom, etc., Internet searches, and website visits.
- Interns must be highly motivated, persistent, resourceful, and self-disciplined; journalism experience required.
Details
Students: are given introductory training about covering nonprofits, receive editing/feedback on their writing, ask NSN questions as they work, and should suggest news media that their stories be sent to.
NSN fully cooperates with universities that can award academic credit. (We’re a startup nonprofit, so internships are unpaid, at least now. Sorry.)
Interns may use NSN Editor Dr. Dane S. Claussen as a reference depending on performance.
NSN is especially interested in nonprofits found in almost every U.S. community (Rotary, Goodwill, animal shelters, chambers of commerce, churches, nonprofit colleges/schools, etc.); nonprofits affecting every American (ACLU, League of Women Voters, etc.); nonprofits serving minorities, women, LGBTQ communities, youth, and immigrants; nonprofits of particular interest to younger Americans; and labor unions.
To apply
Digital/print journalism students should email the following items to Dr. Dane S. Claussen at nonprofitsectornews@gmail.com. Include in subject line: "NSN Summer Intern - [Your Name]"
- An application letter - must state why you want to intern for NSN and several story ideas only about nonprofits.
- Resume
- Include at least three journalism references: professors and/or editors) as email attachments.
- Portfolio Link or scans of your best five stories published/posted in professional and/or student news media.
Applications will be reviewed starting immediately. Internships ideally start Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Hat Tender | Gigi Pip |Miami, FL
Job Posted April 7, 2026 | Advertising, Public Relations
Hat Tender | Gigi Pip |Miami, FL

About
Gigi Pip was conceived between a somewhat obsessive love for hats (thank you Ginger) combined with a passion for business (thank you Jon). We felt there was a gap in the market between high-quality, fashionable hats and what the average women could afford. We're extremely proud to be a leader in the women hat market with dozens of styles at a fraction of the price that you'd find with a custom hat maker.
Gigi Pip's mission is to build confidence in women and the many hats they wear. In a physical sense, we hope to achieve this mission by putting quality first, refusing to cut corners, and producing the most fashionable, high-quality hats on the market. But in the potentially more important symbolic sense - we truly hope our product, service and the Gigi Pip community will help women build confidence in every aspect of their lives, including all the "hats" they wear.
Overview:
We’re looking for 8 outgoing, detail-oriented Hat Tenders to join our team! This is a highly interactive, client-facing role where you’ll help create a memorable, personalized experience for guests at events. If you love working with people, have an eye for style, and enjoy hands-on creativity, this is a great fit. If you don't have an eye for design or style, that is ok! We would love to teach you the Gigi Pip way! This is a contractor job, working just April 27-28.
Key Responsibilities:
-Assist guests in finding the perfect hat style and size for a comfortable, flattering fit
-Customize hats with a variety of embellishments (bands, beads, feathers, branding elements, etc.) We will teach you the ways!
-Provide a fun, engaging, and elevated customer experience throughout the event
-Confidently interact with guests, guiding them through styling and customization options
-Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing workspace
-Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth event execution
Qualifications:
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Comfortable working in a fast-paced, social environment
-Ability to learn how to design hats, we will teach you!!
-Ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of service
