The Miami Hurricane, UM’s student-run newspaper, won first place in two categories at the 21st annual Sunshine State Awards held on Saturday, August 15. Alumnus’ Gift to Launch Speaker Series on the First Amendment

James Hoffman, A.B. ’80, has made a $50,000 pledge that will create the James Hoffman Family Endowed Speaker Series in the School of Communication at the University of Miami. Noted international journalist and editor Ilene Prusher spent nearly two decades covering wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Arab-Israeli conflicts, worked with Steven Sotloff and crossed paths with Daniel Pearl in Afghanistan.
