We are excited to work with the Rat and athletics in the upcoming months, and we are grateful for both organizations’ support for the show.”
Ricketts will be joined by Harry Kroll, a UM sophomore and WVUM broadcaster, in hosting the debut show at theRat, a lakeside restaurant located in the heart of the Coral Gables campus. The second show is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 20 from 1 to 2 p.m.
“It is always a goal of ours to co-program with other organizations on campus, and this is a great example of that,” said Julie Earl, UM senior and chair of the Rathskeller Advisory Board. “We know this will bring a lot of excitement and energy to the Rat and we are so happy to be a part of this brand new tradition.”
UM sports fans from the community and UM students are encouraged to attend the live radio broadcasts. The show will be set up inside the Rat, near the large LCD televisions.
“This is a momentous initiative for our station, and it shows why the University of Miami continues to bea destination for many in student media,” said Steve Priepke, assistantdean of students and faculty advisor for WVUM. “While many radio stations around the country have talk shows hosted in their studios, there are fewerexamples of opportunities to engage with the community and athletes like CaneTalk Live provides.”
CaneTalk Live also serves as an additionalavenue for University of Miami athletes, coaches and administrators to discussthe many accomplishments Hurricanes achieve week in and out.
“WVUM has been a great partner of our athletics department and their coverage of our program is consistently excellent,” said Brian Bowsher, Associate AD of Marketing and Digital Strategy. “The students associated with the station are amazingly talented, and I am eager to listen to AJ and Harry’s show.”
