Salvation Army to Debut at The Cosford With Filmmaker Abdellah Taïa

Salvation Army, the rapturous debut feature from Moroccan writer Abdellah Taïa will premiere at the Cosford Cinema on Thursday, April 3 at 7 p.m. followed with a special  Q&A with the filmmaker and scholars. The film offers a charged, semi-autobiographical tale about a young graduate who must navigate the sexual, racial, and political intrigue surrounding his arrival in Geneva. Graduate Film Students Document Social and Health Issues in Guatemala

By Alysha Kahn, Journalism senior First year graduate student Shareen Dookie said it was the “most interesting” Spring Break she had ever had. She and 14 of her classmates spent eight days in Guatemala shooting short documentaries about local health and social issues. “Learning about another culture, meeting new people, and seeing a different way of life in only one week can be overwhelming, but this experience was more fun and interesting than anything I've ever done on Spring Break,” said Dookie. NBC makeup artist Ana Limonchi visited students from CEM 517, 317 and 233 Monday afternoon, March 31 to give a talk and demonstration on "Studio and Field makeup in the Age of HD." Interactive Media MFA Hosts First Show in Wynwood

Graduate students in the new Interactive Media Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Miami School of Communication presented their first end-of-semester public show December 18 at The LAB Miami in Wynwood. Friends, family, guests from Miami's tech community and journalists attended the show, which featured a set of interactive prototypes built in Physical Computing and Programming for Designers courses.   The projects experiment with interactions between physical and digital worlds including games, musical instruments, interactive art and visualization. Interactive Media MFA Among Princeton Review’s Top Graduate Game Design Programs

The School of Communications Interactive Media Master of Fine Arts program has earned a No. 24 ranking on The Princeton Review's 2014 list of the best graduate schools to study video game design.
