PREP Helps Makes PhilADthropy a Success

The Public Relations Experience Program (PREP) students stayed close to home on Friday, Feb. 23 as they assisted with PhilADthropy at the University of Miami School of Communication. University of Miami Named to The Princeton Review 2018 List, ‘Top 25 Graduate Schools for Game Design’

The University of Miami has earned a #24 ranking on The Princeton Review's just-released list saluting the top 25 graduate schools for game design for 2018. The Princeton Review chose the schools based on its 2017 survey of 150 institutions in the U.S., Canada, and abroad offering game design degree programs or courses. Two UM Publications Win Top Awards

They took their talents from South Beach to Long Beach, Calif. for three days of workshops and networking, and to learn if two University of Miami publications would earn a “Best of Show” award. MMA Meeting: How to Conquer LinkedIn for Personal Branding

On March 6, the Media Management Association (MMA) welcomed Devin Rogan, associate director at the University of Miami Toppel Career Center, to discuss personal LinkedIn branding strategy. Staying Up All Night for a Good Cause

On Feb. 23, I volunteered to stay up all night to help a local nonprofit during the ninth annual PhilADthropy, where students like me create campaigns and other communication pieces in 25 hours.  The event kicked off at 11 a.m. at the University of Miami School of Communication’s courtyard with speeches by assistant professor of practice in the Department of Strategic Communication and PhilADthropy founder, Meryl Blau, and dean of the School of Communication, Dr. Gregory J. ‘Canes Taking Over MFF This Weekend

The Miami Hurricanes are taking over the 2018 Miami Film Festival taking place on March 9-18, 2018. A total of eight films produced, edited, and directed by UM students, faculty, and alumni will be competing throughout the festival. “I consider this a fantastic reflection of the great work our faculty and students are doing. UM Debate Defeats Clemson to Win the 2018 ACC Debate Championship

On March 3-4, The UM Debate Team traveled to Clemson, South Carolina to compete in the Fourth Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Debate Championship Tournament. In each of the first three years of the tournament, UM advanced into the finals but settled for second place. This was finally the Hurricane’s year, however, as the UM Debate team dominated their competition. Two Student Packages Crowned “Best Of” by BEA Festival of Media Arts

For the first time in University of Miami history, two student packages have won the Best Of award from the Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts. The festival is an “international exhibition of award-winning faculty and student works,” according to the BEA website. Sophomore David Perez and freshman Danyel De Villiers won Best Of in the Television Sports Story/Feature category. Alumnus Oliver Redsten, B.S.C.
