An evaluation of the "cord-cutting" phenomenon, a viability study of virtual reality in sports and video entertainment, and an international analysis of over-the-top video services were the topics of the three winning entries of this year's Media Management Association (MMA) Awards. By: Karina Valdes The University of Miami School of Communication is mourning the loss of its alumnus Mike McCormick, B.S.C. ’04, who passed away on Monday while covering extreme weather in North Carolina for WYFF News4. McCormick and photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer both died when a tree fell on their news van. McCormick joined WYFF News4 in 2007 as a reporter.
