On Aug. 16, the University of Miami School of Communication welcomed its new class of graduate students. Graduate orientation for the fall 2018 semester introduced students to the school, faculty, and staff, as well as provided them with a wealth of information to make the transition to graduate school as smooth as possible.

“It is exciting to see these new graduate students start their programs in the school. They are going to enjoy their stay at UM,” said Cong Li, associate dean for graduate studies.

This semester also marks the first class of students enrolled in the M.S. in Media Management. This new 32-credit degree program is designed for students who seek new or advanced opportunities in the various and expanding areas of the media industry, such as content distribution, news and entertainment programming, research, and analytics.

The School of Communication offers seven graduate programs leading to an M.A., M.S., M.F.A., or Ph.D. Students can choose from an M.A. in Communication Studies, Journalism, or Public Relations; an M.S. in Media Management; an M.F.A. in Motion Pictures or Interactive Media; or a Ph.D. in Communication.
