UOnline is seeking THREE Social Media Interns for Spring 2026 to work with the Communications Director to create and share social media content and news stories that highlight student success, faculty accomplishments, and UOnline programs, events, and initiatives.

This role is ideal for students who enjoy writing, storytelling, and content creation and want hands-on experience building real work samples for their resume and portfolio.

THE ROLE

The Communications Intern’s primary responsibility will be producing social media content for multiple platforms using Canva and other tools. The intern will also assist with story development, interviews, and writing news-style articles.

This position is open to full-time, currently enrolled University of Miami students and reports directly to the UOnline Communications Director.

The intern may receive up to 3 internship credit hours through their major (subject to departmental approval).

HOURS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Up to 20 hours per week

• Must have availability during weekday daytime hours

• Most work will be completed remotely

• Occasional in-person meetings with the Communications Director on the Coral Gables campus

• Depending on availability, the intern may occasionally be asked to attend and write about events in the evening or on weekends (this is not common)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Create social media content (photos, short videos, graphics or text posts) using Canva and other tools

• Draft and schedule posts for multiple platforms in alignment with UOnline branding and voice

• Conduct interviews with students, alumni, and faculty

• Take photos as needed to support stories and social media content

• Write news and feature-style articles about student success, faculty achievements, and program highlights

• Assist with other communications and marketing tasks as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Good news judgment and curiosity about people and their stories

• Experience with social media and Canva

• Experience writing news or feature articles (through a class, student media, or internship)

• Strong writing and proofreading skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and take initiative

• Comfortable receiving and applying editorial feedback

*This position is for academic internship credit only (no hourly pay). Students should confirm eligibility for internship credit with their academic department.
