Technology Product Strategist

Knight Foundation’s Journalism Program is seeking a technology product strategist, visionary and impact-oriented leader to help shape our investments, partnerships and a network of people and projects at the intersection of technology and news media.
In this role, you’ll drive Knight’s decisions about which target markets we should serve with technology investments and which product capabilities matter most in service to our goal to fund projects that will make a meaningful difference in the news ecosystem.
The position reports to the Vice President of Journalism.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop an active network of diverse experts (technologists, product specialists, entrepreneurs and researchers) who will support the foundation’s mission to drive journalism sustainability and innovation.
- Champion emerging and existing technologies and media consumption models that can be replicated and sustained to better inform communities.
- Leverage a background in technology and AI to evaluate and refine funding proposals received by Knight’s journalism team.
- Source, develop and manage a portfolio of innovative technology-related projects for Knight Foundation to fund.
- Represent Knight Foundation at local and national convenings to develop grantee relationships and expand the foundation’s network.
- Monitor grantee reporting deadlines, support grant documentation, and help organize insights that contribute to the team’s learning agenda.
- Use the foundation’s systems and processes to help manage grant-making workflows and ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Knight program staff at the intersections of quality information, economic mobility and cultural vibrancy.

We welcome candidates at different stages of their careers. Final title and scope will be determined based on the selected candidate’s background, skills and leadership experience. As such, this role may be filled at a junior or senior level and compensated accordingly.
This position may be based remotely or in-office at our Miami, Florida headquarters.
Communications Intern
Knight Foundation is seeking a Communications Intern to join the foundation for Summer 2026. This paid internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that advances Knight Foundation’s mission.
In this role, the Communications Intern will support the cross-programmatic team responsible for relaunching the one of the foundation’s signature initiatives. The intern will contribute to grantmaking workflows, project management and public-facing communications tied to the initiative.

About the Internship Program
Knight Foundation internships are for 10 weeks, running from early June through mid-August.
- Pay: $20.00 per hour
- Eligibility: Open to local and non-local students with the legal right to work in the United States.
- Relocation: Interns are responsible for their own travel and housing costs.
Designed as a reciprocal learning experience, Knight Foundation internships provide students with real responsibility, professional development and exposure to the field of philanthropy, while enabling teams to move important projects forward. Interns gain practical skills, confidence and professional networks through project work and organization-wide programming.
What You’ll Do
Working closely with a cross-functional team, the intern will support both operational and communications aspects of the initiative. Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting project management and tracking deliverables during the application review process
- Using Monday.com to assist with workflow and task management
- Assisting with grantmaking workflows and internal coordination
- Supporting planning and execution of the public announcement and finalists’ launch
- Contributing to social media and public-facing content planning, depending on skills and interests
- Assisting with media and communications efforts tied to the Challenge
What You’ll Produce
By the end of the internship, the intern will have contributed to:
- Execution of the initiative’s public announcement and launch plan
- Project management and workflow support materials
- Draft content or planning materials supporting social and media outreach
What You’ll Learn
By the end of the summer, the intern will gain experience in:
- Challenge-based grantmaking and large-scale philanthropic initiatives
- Nonprofit project management and cross-team collaboration
- Public-facing communications and launch planning
- How high-visibility foundation initiatives are coordinated and executed
The intern will have significant exposure to cross-programmatic meetings and planning discussions and will work closely with colleagues across the foundation.
