SportsDesk Wins Again

The University of Miami received two honors from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter: a win for UMTV and the opportunity to host the inaugural Suncoast Student Production Awards. Javier Morgado Receives 2019 South Florida Communicator of the Year Award

70th Annual Student Media Awards

On April 30th, the University of Miami School of Communication is hosting the 70th Annual Student Media Awards. The ceremony celebrates the accomplishments of UM’s student media during the 2018-2019 academic year, including Distraction Magazine, UMTV programs, Ibis Yearbook, and The Miami Hurricane. MMA Award Winners Announced

An evaluation of the "cord-cutting" phenomenon, a viability study of virtual reality in sports and video entertainment, and an international analysis of over-the-top video services were the topics of the three winning entries of this year's Media Management Association (MMA) Awards. Cross Country ’Cane

California native Liat Cohen found her Miami experience to be collaborative and inspiring. A first-generation college student and the second daughter in a close-knit family, it was almost unthinkable for Liat Cohen to leave home. MMA Meeting: How to Sell Noncommercial Television

On April 10, the Media Management Association hosted Heidi Lieb, senior director of business development at WPBT, to talk about the mechanism and strategies used to sell public television underwriting messages. She came to the South Florida noncommercial television station with considerable sales experience in the private sector, including a three-year stint as an account executive at ESPN. MMA Meeting: How to Conquer LinkedIn for Personal Branding

On March 6, the Media Management Association (MMA) welcomed Devin Rogan, associate director at the University of Miami Toppel Career Center, to discuss personal LinkedIn branding strategy. Staying Up All Night for a Good Cause

On Feb. 23, I volunteered to stay up all night to help a local nonprofit during the ninth annual PhilADthropy, where students like me create campaigns and other communication pieces in 25 hours.  The event kicked off at 11 a.m. at the University of Miami School of Communication’s courtyard with speeches by assistant professor of practice in the Department of Strategic Communication and PhilADthropy founder, Meryl Blau, and dean of the School of Communication, Dr. Gregory J.
