UOnline and the Division of Continuing and International Education (DCIE) seeks a student intern for Summer 2025 to work with the Communications Director to create and share social media content and news stories about student success, faculty accomplishments, and other programs, events and news.
The Communication Intern’s primary responsibility will be to produce social media content for multiple platforms, using Canva and other tools. There will also be plenty of opportunity to write stories for UOnline and DCIE News.
This position is open to full-time enrolled students at the University of Miami and will report to the UOnline/DCIE Communications Director. The intern will gain hands-on experience conducting interviews, writing news articles, and creating social media content. The intern may receive up to 3 internship credit hours through their major.
The intern will work a maximum of 20 hours a week and must have availability during the day. Most of the work will be completed remotely, although occasional meetings with the Communications Director will be scheduled in-person at the Coral Gables campus.
Depending on availability, the intern may occasionally be asked to attend and write about events that occur in the evening or on weekends, though this is not common.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing social media content, including photos, videos and text, using Canva
- Conducting interviews, taking photos, writing news articles
Skills and Abilities:
- Good news judgment
- Experience with social media and Canva
- Experience writing news articles (through a class or internship)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
- Ability to multitask and take on new tasks as assigned
