UM Debate Team Wins Multiple Awards

10 UM Students were introduced to intercollegiate debate competition for the first time at the Sunshine State Scrimmage hosted by UCF in Orlando. Competing against teams from UF and UCF, the UM Novice team of Thalia Garcia and Lucas Baker placed first, with Baker named the 2nd place individual speaker and Garcia 3rd. Cosford Cinema to Celebrate New Projector with Hitchcock Film Screening

Cosford Cinema celebrates its new 4K digital projector with 3D capabilities with a screening of Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller DIAL M FOR MURDER. UM Debate Team Wins Georgia State National Debate Tournament

The University of Miami Debate Team began its year as we did last year, by winning the Novice Division Championship of the Intercollegiate Debate Tournament at Georgia State University, held September 20-22 in Atlanta.  UM entered four two-person teams in the policy debate tournament, held under the auspices of the American Debate Association, the Cross Examination Debate Association, and the National Debate Tournament.  Competition was divided into Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Novice Divisions based on experience of the debaters.  UM’s squad entered a novice team, two JV teams, and an [...]

PRSSA Kicks Off Year with Networking Event

“The Cotton Candy Connect” kicked off UM PRSSA’s fall membership drive in the School of Communication Courtyard Tuesday night.Nearly 40 students participated in the meeting networking activity. As they got to know each other personally and professionally, they were treated to freshly whipped up cotton candy.The fall membership drive continues through Oct. 1. Interactive Media Game Atlantis is an Official Selection for IndieCade

Atlantis, a game developed by professor Clay Ewing in collaboration with students Rebekah Monson and Franklin Zhang is an official selection for IndieCade. IndieCade is the largest global independent game festival, and Atlantis was one of 36 games chosen of over 1000 submissions from around the world to be featured to the community and festival attendees. Richter Library Launches Subject Guide for Media Management Research

Terri Robar, Social Sciences Librarian at the Richter Library, created an online Media Management Subject Guide to tailor library resources to the needs of Media Management students. This guide lists relevant books, databases, videos, and websites for the areas of media research, programming, entrepreneurship, and technology. A similar guide already exists for Advertising and Public Relations students.
