University of Miami Debate Team Wins Second ACC Championship

The School of Communication and Institute for Advanced Study of the Americas (UMIA) are delighted to announce the creation of the Distinguished Graduate Fellows program in Communication for Global Health and/or Sustainable Development. These awards are open to all Ph.D. and M.F.A. students in the School of Communication. Distinguished Graduate Fellows in Global Communication Announced for Spring 2022

The School of Communication is delighted to announce the Distinguished Graduate Fellows in Global Communication for the 2022 spring semester. The four fellows will receive a supplemental stipend and release time to work on their individual research projects, which were selected to support the School’s emerging global initiatives. Renowned Film Critic Takes On New Role as Manager of the Bill Cosford Cinema

SoC Launches Graduate Certificate in Media Management

In September 2021, the School of Communication launched its first graduate certificate and began to welcome applications for the 2022 spring semester. The Graduate Certificate in Media Management (GCMM) will allow professionals to supplement their education with specialized media courses and to enhance their skills. Professor Sam Terilli, Chair of the Department of Journalism and Media Management, noted that "in a short period of time, the certificate can provide students with essential knowledge and the ability to analyze key issues affecting the media."
