In September 2021, the School of Communication launched its first graduate certificate and began to welcome applications for the 2022 spring semester.

The Graduate Certificate in Media Management (GCMM) will allow professionals to supplement their education with specialized media courses and to enhance their skills. Professor Sam Terilli, Chair of the Department of Journalism and Media Management, noted that “in a short period of time, the certificate can provide students with essential knowledge and the ability to analyze key issues affecting the media.”

This 12-credit non-degree certificate can be completed within a year by taking JMM 632, Current Issues in Media Management, and a first elective during the fall semester and JMM 636, Content Strategy in the Media Industry, and a second elective during the spring semester. Students can start the program either in the fall or in the spring. They may take one or more courses for credit, but must satisfactorily complete all four courses to receive the certificate. It is also possible for students who are admitted in the Master of Science program in Media Management to transfer these four successfully completed courses.

Interested applicants can visit the GCMM page at http://com.miami.edu/gcmm. For more information about the GCMM program, please contact Professor Michel Dupagne at dupagnem@miami.edu or at 305-284-3500.
