Fall 4C Pilot Grants Awarded

A total of eight faculty members spread across six departments were awarded 4C Pilot Grants by the University of Miami School of Communication Center for Communication, Culture, and Change. These grants are awarded three times per year to fund interdisciplinary projects that align with the mission of the center and are designed to provide data to compete for external funding from private, foundation, and government sources. Master’s Program Created for Media Management

The University of Miami School of Communication has added a 34-credit Master of Science in Media Management to its existing graduate programs. The new program, which starts in fall 2018, allows students to advance their career interests in the media industry in areas such as distribution, sales, news and entertainment programming, research, and analytics. Winston Warrior, a double alumnus, joins the Department of Journalism and Media Management after working for more than 20 years in the marketing industry. A new student-run consultancy is ready to take on clients at University of Miami School of Communication. Orange Umbrella Student Consultancy recently opened, offering an array of services to clients including public relations, advertising, interactive media, film production, research, and web design. Graduating Senior Oliver Redsten’s Lifelong Passion for Journalism

Graduating this May, senior Oliver Redsten is a 22-year-old student double-majoring in broadcast journalism and political science, with a minor in history. Redsten found his passion for digital storytelling and journalism at a young age and credits the School of Communication for helping him grow and challenging him to ask “why journalism?” Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Redsten has known he wanted to be in the broadcast journalism industry since he was five years old. University of Miami School of Communication is hosting the 68th Annual Student Media Awards on May 2. “The Student Media Awards are a chance to recognize students for all their hard work throughout the academic year,” said Sam Terilli, department chair for the Department of Journalism and Media Management and associate professor.
