#4 UM Debate Team Travels West

The UM Debate Team traveled west this weekend, with the British parliamentary team competing at the University of Denver and the policy team competing at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.   The Parliamentary team finished out of the award rounds, but competed well against outstanding competition including the University of Alaska, Loyola University Chicago, the US Air Force Academy, and Clemson University. The UM Debate Team are Champions Again

The UM Debate Team collected yet another tournament championship by winning the Sweepstakes of the Chicken and Egg Debate Tournament hosted by the University of North Georgia from Sept. 29-30. Fourteen UM debaters traveled to Gainesville, Georgia to compete in British Parliamentary Debate. UM Debate Wins Tournament Championships in National Opener

The UM Debate team dominated its competition at the National Opener hosted by Georgia State University in Atlanta, one of the largest and most intensely competitive intercollegiate policy debate tournaments in the country. This year’s tournament, held from September 15-17, saw the UM Debate Team winning two of the three championships offered by the event. Staying Up All Night for a Good Cause

On Feb. 23, I volunteered to stay up all night to help a local nonprofit during the ninth annual PhilADthropy, where students like me create campaigns and other communication pieces in 25 hours.  The event kicked off at 11 a.m. at the University of Miami School of Communication’s courtyard with speeches by assistant professor of practice in the Department of Strategic Communication and PhilADthropy founder, Meryl Blau, and dean of the School of Communication, Dr. Gregory J. UM Debate Defeats Clemson to Win the 2018 ACC Debate Championship

On March 3-4, The UM Debate Team traveled to Clemson, South Carolina to compete in the Fourth Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Debate Championship Tournament. In each of the first three years of the tournament, UM advanced into the finals but settled for second place. This was finally the Hurricane’s year, however, as the UM Debate team dominated their competition.
