University of Miami students and local community join together for PhilADthropy 2016

This past weekend marked the seventh annual PhilADthropy at University of Miami School of Communication. The 25-hour event consisted of 13 student teams creating advertising, marketing, branding, design, and public relations materials for local nonprofit organizations. PhilADthropy and AD Group organizers selected the organizations from more than 100 entries and also reached out to alumni and industry professionals to volunteer their time and talents. NATPE Internship: Insights from Two SoC Students

Every year, the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) offers a competitive internship program that allows selected students to attend the conference and develop a greater knowledge of the television buying and distribution processes. Since 2011, the annual NATPE conference has been held in Miami Beach. University of Miami graduate Gretchen Schroeder, B.S.C. in Motion Pictures ’15, accepted a position as an American Cinema Editors Intern. Only two recent college graduates with experience in, and a passion for, film editing are chosen nation-wide to be a part of this four-week program each year. CSPA Recognizes Ibis Yearbook as a Crown Finalist

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) named University of Miami’s 2015 Ibis yearbook a Crown Finalist. Edited by School of Communication graduate Holly Bensur, ‘15 B.S.C, the Ibis is one of four college yearbooks that will receive a Crown in March at the College Media Association (CMA) conference in New York City. Austin, Texas, a city known for keeping it hip, welcomed the nation’s leading college media outlets to the annual ACP/CMA National College Media Convention in November.
