Building Community Foundations: Career Advancement at the School of Communication

UM Hosts Irish Debaters

The University of Miami’s Debate Team will host three award-winning Irish debaters on Monday, April 4, at 6 p.m. in the Shalala Student Activity Center, Activities Room South, third floor on the motion this house believes the political success of Donald J. Superintendent of Everglades National Park to Visit UM

Pedro Ramos, superintendent of Everglades National Park, is visiting University of Miami School of Communication on Tuesday, March 29, to speak with students about the Everglades and the National Park Services.  Ramos’ visit is an opportunity for students studying journalism to put their skills to work. Professor Joseph B. Treaster tasked students in his class to ask Ramos questions during his visit and then write a hard news lead on his remarks.

Student Films Win Big at MIFF

The University of Miami School of Communication was a big winner at Miami International Film Festival’s (MIFF) CinemaSlam, taking home four out of seven possible awards. SoC films won Best Documentary, Best Actor, Best Director, and Miami CinemaSlam Champion 2016 at the fifth annual local student competition. NYU Moving Image Archiving & Preservation Collaborates with University of Miami to Preserve the Work of Buky Schwartz

The Moving Image Archiving and Preservation (MIAP) program at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the University of Miami’s Norton Herrick Center for Motion Picture Studies have joined forces with the Estate of Buky Schwartz to preserve the late artist’s extensive archive of multimedia works. University of Miami School of Communication’s Interactive Media Program has earned a #23 ranking on The Princeton Review's just-published list saluting the top 25 graduate schools to study game design for 2016. The Princeton Review chose the schools based on a survey it conducted in 2015 of 150 institutions offering game design coursework and/or degrees in the United States, Canada, and some countries abroad.
