UM Advances to Finals in National Student Advertising Competition

The student team from the School of Communication successfully competed in the semi-final round and now will proceed to the final round of the National Student Advertising Competition in Boca Raton on May 29. The semi-finals consisted of 18 district-winning teams, each of whom completed a 15-minute Q&A with four judges via conference call. Only eight of 18 teams advanced to the final round, and more than 130 college and university teams entered the competition. Celebrate Achievement At The School of Communication Annual Awards Ceremony

Students, alumni, faculty and staff will be honored at the School of Communication Annual Awards Celebration from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9 in the third floor activities rooms at the Student Activities Center, 1330 Miller Drive in Coral Gables. SoC To Host Chicas Poderosas Interactive Storytelling Workshop

Chicas Poderosas — an organization dedicated to empowering Latin American women journalists to excel in visual storytelling, data visualization and interactive media with hands-on skills training — will hold its first workshop in the United States from April 17 to 20 in Miami. SoC Team Wins National Student Advertising Competition in District Four

The student team from the School of Communication won the National Student Advertising Competition District Four Championship on April 5 in Orlando and will move on to the semi-final round later this month. Barbecue Unites Alumni and Students for Homecoming

PhilADthropy Non-Profit Application Deadline Extended to Jan. 24

The School of Communications' groundbreaking annual PhilADthropy program is seeking non-profit organizations with advertising needs. The organizations can apply to have students create new campaigns and advertising materials in a marathon event that puts School of Communication students to work for some of our region's most important groups. During PhilADthropy, students and team leaders meet with their clients for a briefing before spending all night developing professional-level work. Call for Entries: Wine Spectator Foundation Competition To Award Up To $50,000 For Student Projects

The Wine Spectator Foundation will award up to $50,000 to School of Communication undergraduate and graduate students for projects about wine, food, restaurants, travel or tourism. Such projects may include, but are not limited to, a video or short documentary, news or feature writing, a press kit, an advertising project, a graphic design project, a photography portfolio, multimedia (website) or a scholarly paper.
