Emmy award-winning Director/DoP/Editor, Wes Malkin created 1Focus Media to meet the changing needs of our clients. Wes has years of experience producing high-end commercials, legal videos, documentaries and multi-platform media specializing in resort/destination, Legal and Medical/hospital industries.
In the commercial industry, Wes is highly regarded for setting the standard in creating sweeping luxurious lifestyle images for campaigns by some of the world’s top resorts. Some of his clients include Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts, Crystal Cruise Lines, Seaborne Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines, Crescent Heights Investments, Knight Ridder, Health First Healthcare, Caesar’s Resorts, Starwood, Air Jamaica, Jackson Health Systems, Memorial Healthcare Systems, Cigna Healthcare, University of Miami Health Systems and many more.
For television, Wes has traveled the world from Canaima Venezuela shooting base jumpers at Angel Falls to India shooting a self sustaining Eco Village and the Sahara Desert shooting the critically acclaimed documentary film “Behind the Blue Veil” on the nomadic Tuareg tribe as well as a feature length documentary My Uncle Gloria – about how 66 year old Uncle Butch’s sexual transformation to “Aunt” Gloria brought an estranged and dysfunctional family back together. Wes has been honored with many awards including an Emmy, Gold Palm, Silver Palm and was a member of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA).
A talented editor, colorist and finisher with excellent skills in Adobe Premiere, Final Cut 7 (FCS), Adobe After Efects, and many other applications. Wes also teaches digital filmmaking in conjunction with the University of Southern California for Crystal Cruises Learning Institute.
He has been honored with many awards including an Emmy, multiple Tellys, Gold Palm, and Silver Palm awards.
The Role:
We are producing video coverage for the South Florida Folk & Acoustic Music Festival, taking place January 30 – February 1, and are looking for paid student interns to assist with both camera operation and general production support (PA roles).
· Camera operation and basic media support
· General production assistance (PA): stage coordination support, gear handling, runner tasks, and on-site logistics
** We are also considering an on-camera interviewer role to interview some of the headliners, vendors and attendees.
Event details & needs:
· Friday: 1- 2 camera position + production support
· Saturday & Sunday: 2 camera positions per day + production support
· Shifts can be scheduled as half-day or full-day, depending on availability
Compensation:
· $100–$125 per half-day shift
· $200–$250 per full-day shift, depending on role and experience
This is a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience working on a live, multi-day music festival in a professional production environment.
