Content TV & Film Editorial Research Intern | Washington, DC

Imagine working side by side with industry leaders and building upon the skills you’ve learned in the classroom through real-world, hands-on experience with an internship on National Geographic magazine’s Editorial Operations team. Our team facilitates the production of articles for National Geographic magazine and nationalgeographic.com as well as Instagram posts. We help support our authors and text editors through the fine tuning of copyediting and fact-checking, applying the standards in our Style Manual and ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and integrity that readers expect from a 138-year-old brand. We set and monitor production milestones and schedules by outreach to assigned story teams. We also facilitate National Geographic’s production in 20 international markets through supplying files as well as explanatory memos for translators that accompany individual articles.

This internship is a full-time, and the approximate dates of this internship are from May/June 2026 through August/September 2026. Production Management Intern | Washington, DC

Join us for the opportunity to intern with the National Geographic Production Management team! We are responsible for the Unscripted, Feature Doc and Natural History slate at National Geographic Content, providing premium series and specials across our company’s many platforms like Disney+ and the Nat Geo linear channels. Our team of Line Producers (LP), Production Managers (PM), Unit Managers (UM), and admin staff liaise with strategic partners across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC), National Geographic and third-party production companies to ensure all productions adhere to TWDC best practices and deliver on time, on budget and to Nat Geo Specifications.  We manage the day-to-day production logistics partnering with the Development and Creative Teams and Executives to achieve highest production value and editorial quality. We oversee production operations and best practices through the production life cycle—from green light to premiere on all specials and series.

Documentary Films Intern | Burbank, Ca

Join us for the opportunity to learn how National Geographic develops, commissions, and distributes documentary films! We are committed to bringing the world premium, feature documentaries that cover timely, gripping, and globally relevant stories from the very best documentary filmmakers in the world.

Our team handles all aspects of content management during each film’s life cycle from pitch through development, production, distribution, and awards. With 4-5 films per year, each piece of content receives a bespoke strategy that includes some combination of A-list festivals, a limited theatrical release, a robust awards campaign, impact initiatives and streaming.

This internship will grant insight into all aspects of our business and provide the opportunity to attend pitches, internal meetings, and National Geographic events. You will also gain insight into our key strategic initiatives through a combination of the responsibilities below.

This is a full-time internship, and the approximate dates of this internship are June 2026 through August 2026. If selected for the opportunity, you will report directly to the Senior Manager, Documentary Films.
