The University of Miami Alumni Association recently held its Fall 2022 Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series, “Unpacking the Midterm Elections: What’s Next?,” featuring several alumni from the School of Communication.

SoC alumni Joshua E. Johnson, B.S.C. ’02, Bryan Llenas, B.S.C. ’10, and Javier E. Morgado, B.S.C. ’99, joined Jorge Ramos, M.A. ’96, for a discussion moderated by Katie Phang, J.D. ’00, and hosted by Devang B. Desai, A.B. ’97, J.D. ’03. Karin Wilkins, dean of the School of Communication, shared remarks at the end of the panel.

The lecture centered around the 2022 midterm elections with the panel of notable alumni experts sharing their perspectives and insights into the potential impacts at the local, state, and federal levels. After the panel, Desai presented the alumni on the panel with an award from the University of Miami Alumni Association in recognition of their achievement and professional accomplishments.

The Distinguished Alumni Endowed Lecture Series was established in 1995 through the generous support of Stu Bloch, A.B. ’64, and Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch. The series recognizes and celebrates University of Miami alumni who have distinguished themselves and their alma mater through lifetime achievement and professional accomplishments. It also serves to foster intellectual dialogue among the University of Miami community and encourage the lifelong pursuit of learning.
