On Thursday, April 9, PREP students took over the UC breezeway to promote the University of Miami’s 18th annual Canes Film Festival. PREP students tabled to raise awareness of the upcoming event by engaging with students and faculty passing by throughout the day. Event flyers and popcorn were distributed while the students answered questions about the festival.
“Tabling in the breezeway is a great way of letting people know what is happening on campus,” said PREP manager Sarah Driks.
PREP students were also tasked with taking pictures of students holding up a Canes Film Festival Instagram frame. This was a great way to engage with students and discuss details of the event. Most students simply smiled, but a few took it farther, with funny expressions. There was even a student in a shark suit who took a photo with the frame.
“The Instagram frame really helped us to engage with students today,” said PREP student Kelly Neuenschwander.
The Canes Film Festival is a competitive festival open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Motion Pictures program at UM. Each film entered in the festival is judged by a panel of professionals from the film and television industry. The event will take place May 1-3 in the Bill Cosford Cinema.
