Are you interested in creating visual designs that blend science and infographics effectively and engagingly?
This Spring 2015, the University of Miami School of Communication, in partnership with the Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science, will offer a new course in Explanatory Graphics with an emphasis on science-based research and visual design.
Adjunct lecturer Hiram Henriquez (former National Geographic graphics editor) and Neil Hammerschlag (Research Assistant Professor at the University of Miami RSMAS, U Miami) together will teach students how to edit, illustrate and design infographics, videos and animations that educate readers and bring science to life. Emphasis will be placed on research and teamwork to generate projects for use in real-world applications. Students will be grouped in teams of 4 to work on creating visual designs (print and Web infographic, animations and/or video) using real research and content.
The class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 am-12:30 pm. The room is to be announced, but the course will be held in the School of Communication.
