Our advertising students’ accomplishments are recognized globally, earning ADDYs, Clios, and Pencils for impactful campaigns for renowned companies like Airbnb, Volvo, eBay, and Google.
Immersive PR Experiences
Students put their skills to use at annual events such as the South Beach Wine & Food Fest, Art Basel and the Miami Book Fair, as well as semester-long internships with corporations or agencies based in South Florida. Classes offer field trips to cruise ships, art museums, the Everglades and sports arenas.

Orange Umbrella x DJ Khaled
Students in Orange Umbrella teamed up with Marcus Rivero, renowned as @solesbysir crafting a pair of 1of1 Jordan 5’s for the iconic DJ Khaled. Adorned with Khaled’s We The Best emblem and a nod to his passion for golf, the sneakers epitomized the Miami Hurricanes spirit and proudly showcased Khaled’s passions.

Professor Gomez was honored with the 2024 PRSA Miami’s Bill Adams’ Lifetime Achievement Award which recognizes exceptional leadership and contributions to the public relations profession and the Miami community.
Monica Duran
Professor Duran received the School of Communication Teaching Award in 2024. Recognized for her leadership qualities and dedication, she was also nominated by her students to join Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society.

Dr. Mueller’s co-author paper “Can portraying empowered women really empower women? Development and validation of a women’s empowerment through advertising (WETA) scale” received the 2024 American Academy of Advertising Best Conference Paper Award.
