Neri García was born in Mexico City. She started her studies in Graphic Design at the University of the Americas in Puebla, Mexico and holds an MA in Visual Communication from the Universität Gesamthochschule Kassel, Germany, with the specialties of Graphic Design and Animation.

She has worked as an animator, designer and art director since 1996 in Mexico, Germany and the United States for different clients in a variety of industries, both as a freelancer and in Advertising Agencies.

Currently, she is a Graphic Design professor at the University of Miami in the Strategic Communication Department under the Creative Track. She previously taught Graphic Design at Miami Dade College, Miami International University and Miami Ad School.

In her 16 years as a graphic design professor she has taught courses for the graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of editorial and typographic design, corporate identity development, sustainability, etc. She has created extensive course material and tools to help students develop conceptual and critical thinking as part of the creative process.

She continues to freelance in a variety of graphic design and illustration projects, as well as consulting on corporate branding to small businesses, and has worked on the design and publishing of several books.

In her free time, she writes and illustrates children’s books. “Two Places to Love” is her first bilingual book.
