Position Overview:

Area Stage Company is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Intern to join our marketing team. This unpaid internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in media management within a dynamic theatre environment. The intern will assist in enhancing our online presence, engaging with our community, and promoting our productions and programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Content & Engagement: Assist in creating, scheduling, and monitoring content across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, and TikTok. Engage with followers and track analytics to optimize posts.
  • Email Marketing & Digital Outreach: Assist in drafting and sending email campaigns, manage subscriber lists, and track email performance.
  • Press & Media Relations Support: Draft press releases, maintain media lists, assist with press outreach, and help manage promotional materials.
  • Community Outreach & Audience Development: Support audience development efforts through local partnerships, distributing promotional materials, and assisting with cross-promotions.
  • Event Promotion & On-Site Support: Assist with promotion, setup, and on-site support at performances and special events. Capture live content for marketing use.
  • Marketing Materials & Web Content: Help create flyers, graphics, and web content. Assist in updating the website and event listings.
  • Market Research & Analytics: Conduct basic market research, track digital campaign results, and compile reports on marketing performance.
  • Team Collaboration & Administrative Support: Attend marketing meetings, support administrative tasks, and contribute to creative brainstorming sessions.

Qualifications:

  • College junior, senior, or recent graduate pursuing Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interest in theater, the performing arts, and nonprofit marketing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, LinkedIn).
  • Familiarity with basic social media analytics, scheduling tools, and content best practices.
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Prior experience with social media content creation, graphic design, or digital marketing is a plus.
  • (Optional) Experience using personal camera equipment for photography and video capture preferred but not required.
