Animation

  • Cinematic Animator: Provide a solid foundation and understanding of weight and timing to help bring characters to life in a games environment. Using 3D software, you will be learning the pipeline, processes and workflows around what it takes to bring a cinematic together from start to finish. 
  • Gameplay Animator: Bring our game to life! You will work with a mentor to create exceptional key-frame animations for characters, environments, and objects. You’ll have opportunities to work with amazing character artists, riggers, and designers to take your animation from Maya to game. 

VFX

  • Recreate natural phenomena such as fire, smoke, explosives, dust, water, and weather systems. 

Game Engineering

  • Gameplay Engineering Internship: Partner across teams developing gameplay and features for our games. You will be working on a shipping title, with a mentor, on a team managing multiple projects against competing deadlines. It may be the biggest challenge you have faced, but your strong technical skills, initiative, and commitment will get you through.  
  • Tools Engineering Internship: Help us build the tools we use to create our games. Create user experiences for proprietary tools and provide unique value to a small team of passionate engineers. We help content creators be really creative, really fast.  
  • UI Engineering Internship: A UI Engineer focuses on one part of the framework within the game engine that the UI will be built upon, and one part the active User Interface our players will see in game. We work on both the underlying code systems that make it work, and all the shiny buttons and menus you interact with!
  • Online Technology Engineering Internship: Work with a team that acts as the “technical glue” between back end and user experience. As an Online Technology intern, you will control social systems on our games and implement new systems within multiplayer game features.
  •  Systems Engineering Internship: Work with the team responsible for low level CPU based systems, including but not limited to streaming, audio, animation, physics, memory, and networking.
  • AI Engineering Internship: Work with the team to create AI within our games. You’ll help create friendly AI to help the player, enemy AI which the player rights against, and more.
  • Audio Engineering Internship: Work with the team to make tools to help content creators make audio. In this role, you will see how we create audio reactive to gameplay.

Technical Art

  • Technical Artist, you’ll use your understanding of game creation tools and production methods to help maintain and grow our ability to develop art assets and integrate them into the game. You will utilize your creative problem-solving abilities across a wide range of technical solutions that are operating at a large scale.

UI/UX Design

  • UI/UX Design Internship: As an advocate for our players, you will collaborate with multiple teams to help create functional yet sophisticated user experiences. You’ll seek to level up your designs every step of the way by sharing work and receiving feedback from your fellow designers and collaborators. 

User Research

  • User Research Internship: Assist with the execution of user-tests including setup, breakdown, game review, intake/outtake of participants, recording/reporting of the players’ experiences, and other research related activities. Provide summarized research results for discussion and write-up. Maintain lab equipment. Analyze survey responses and contribute to research reports. Support the User Research staff in studies and other ad-hoc projects. Get on the job training and mentoring from industry experts in user research and game analysis. Be the voice of the player base to the developers and see the game evolve based on player feedback. Contribute your unique and interesting ideas to the field of games user research.  

Computer Graphics

  • Motion Capture Programming Internship: Join Activision’s Central Technology team and participate in R&D projects related to performance capture and character animation. You will also assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting asset creation pipelines and tools which integrate with different specific studio pipelines.  This internship is located in Los Angeles, CA. 
  • Rendering Internship: Work on console, PC, and mobile titles to solve problems within render architecture, systems programming, GPU microcode, procedural geometry, ray-tracing, and performance analysis and optimization.  

Character Concept Artist

  • Work with the art team in designing original clothing across a variety of different styles for our games. Create mood boards, croquis sketches, and final fashion illustrations. You’ll also identify and source fabrics and create fashion flats to show the shape and details of garments.

Software Engineering

  • Front-End Development Internship: Be a part of one of our internal teams, focused on Front-end Development to build and maintain a variety of consumer facing websites and mobile properties for our games and franchises. Leverage data, game API’s and creative marketing to build an engaging experience for players out of the console of PC.  
  • Back-end Development Internship: Join a team focused on Back-end Development to build and maintain a variety of consumer facing websites and mobile properties for our games and franchises. Work on websites that are global and responsive to support long term maintenance and usability.  
  • UX/UI Engineering Internship: Join one of our teams focused on UX/UI to create wireframes, mockups and prototypes for new and existing websites and mobile applications for one of our franchises. Conduct research to advise approach including competitive analysis and user feedback.  
  • Ecommerce Engineering Internship: The Ecommerce engineering teams oversee the entire online purchasing experience on the Battle.net Shop. From payment processing to claw backs – get ready to see it all.  
  • Platform Engineering Internship: Our platform engineering teams are responsible for all the behind-the-scenes technology that makes everything run. From the infrastructure to dev portals, they do it all!  
  • Application Engineering Internship: From the desktop and mobile Battle.net application to every Blizzard game website, corporate and esports landing pages – our applications team reaches it all. 
  • Enterprise Applications Engineering Internship: Work closely with stakeholders (developers, applications architects, business analysts, etc.) to identify the best solutions for the business in Enterprise Architecture. Take part in various stages of the software development cycle, including: reviewing requirements, proposing and designing solutions, creating technical design, building, customizing, testing, deploying, etc. Develop appropriate test scenarios and scripts as needed. Troubleshoot, identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and document and provide the best solution to the problem. 
  • Integration Testing Engineering Internship: The Integration team works to integrate and branch code changes to bring together the entirety of our game from concept to release. You will work with developers and engineers to help resolve code conflicts and add features to our internal integration tools.

Production & Project Management

  • Production Intern: join one of our production teams as they support our games in real time. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who enjoys problem solving and fast paced environments. In this role you’ll coordinate with Producers, Artists, Engineers, Designers, and members of QA. Additionally, you’ll assist in tracking of tasks, document decisions, and assist the production team with administrative requests, archive game assets in a centralized system. 
  • Project Management Intern: We are looking for a project management intern to organize and coordinate team projects with one of our core teams. As a Project Manager, you will act as a champion for the features your team develops and help to keep them on track towards delivery.   

Player Profile  

  • Pursuing an associates, bachelors, masters, or PhD and graduating April 2025 – July 2026 
  • Available to participate in a 12-week internship starting in late-May or mid-June 
  • Currently residing in the US or open to relocating oneself to the US 
  • Exhibits learning agility; has the ability to think differently, and/or grasp and apply new skills and concepts

The challenging and creative work you do throughout your internship will directly impact the team you are contributing on. In addition to your day-to-day work, you’ll participate in intern exclusive Learning & Development and social events (virtual and in-person). 

All internships will be conducted in-person. Hosting managers will determine when and how often interns work in the office. All interns will have the option to opt into relocation services (flights, trains, or car mileage reimbursement). Additionally, all interns will be provided a living stipend to supplement housing, utility, commuting, and miscellaneous costs.
