The College of Arts and Sciences seeks a student intern for Fall 2024 to work in the Office of Communications. The intern will support the office’s efforts to create and share compelling news about faculty, students, programs, events, interdisciplinary projects, and other College accomplishments.

The intern’s primary responsibility will be to write news articles for the college’s website. Depending on the intern’s interests and the office’s needs, the intern may also have the opportunity to help with the production of the Fall 2024 issue of the College’s magazine.

This position is open to full-time enrolled students at the University of Miami and will report to the Senior Communications Specialist at the College. The intern will gain hands-on experience conducting interviews and writing news articles. In addition, the intern can receive up to 3 internship credit hours through their major.

The intern will work a maximum of 15 hours a week in the office and must have availability during the day. Some work may be completed remotely. Depending on their availability, the intern may occasionally be asked to attend and write about events that occur in the evening.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting interviews and writing news articles about the College of Arts & Sciences
  • Assisting with the production of the Fall 2024 issue of the College of Arts & Sciences magazine

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience writing news articles in an academic or internship setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask and take on new tasks as assigned
  • Good news judgement
