Creative Services/ Promotion Intern

As the intern in our Creative Services department, you will assist producers in preparing spots for air and will be responsible for shepherding various projects through to completion. You will gain exposure to multiple departments at the station, including News, Programming, Production, Graphics, and Sales/Marketing. Video editing experience is absolutely essential.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Outstanding video editing experience in Adobe Premiere
  • Familiarity with ABC7 New York properties (linear, social, digital, streaming)
  • Attention to detail, exacting standards, and outstanding organizational skills
  • Major or previous coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Video Production, or related major
  • Proven track record working independently

Digital Intern

This internship might be for you if you love to create, learn, and collaborate. You will be part of a digital team assisting in producing stories, creating original videos, and engaging our audience on social networks. You are motivated, willing to take on new challenges and make the most of your time with us to truly make a difference. 

Required Qualifications & Skills  

  • Previous experience in journalism (print, digital, and/or broadcast) and/or in television, news and new media production 
  • Passion for digital media and television 
  • Ability to think creatively and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Professionalism and phone etiquette 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Strong problem-solving skills 
  • Previous experience with non-linear video editing software – Adobe Premiere, AVID, and/or Final Cut Pro 
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop or similar program 
  • Experience with photography and/or videography – DLSR or similar cameras 

Programming Intern

You will work directly with our Executive Producer and Senior Producer. You will be immersed in all aspects of production: assisting on field shoots, transcribing, and logging taped interviews, researching/fact-checking, and capturing post-production elements such as graphics and music. You will also get the opportunity to work with our Promotions, News, and Art Departments. You will learn the process of how we get our programs on the air. You will also learn about FCC regulations, music rights, and licensing.

At the end of this internship, you will have a good idea of where your area of interest truly lies and will learn the skills vital to make it in the television business.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiar with basic video production
  • Desire to be part of a fast-paced agile organization
  • Attention to detail, exacting standards, and outstanding organizational skills
  • A hunger to learn and observe. You are a dedicated team player who is also confident working independently.
