Founded in 2023, GI 305 is a nonprofit organization advancing guaranteed income in Miami-Dade County, focused on neighborhoods most affected by poverty, violence, and displacement.

We are a small but determined team addressing the County’s most pressing issues – income inequality and housing insecurity. Our hands-on approach connects us daily with community members, public interest donors, and local leaders to build support for guaranteed income and drive our mission forward.

This Culture & Communications Internship offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside GI 305’s founders and within a nonprofit that values creativity, collaboration, and change. We are committed to breaking down financial barriers and empowering residents and workers in Miami-Dade County.

Job Summary

We are looking for a proactive and creative Culture & Marketing Organizer Intern with a passion for cultural organizing and social justice. This role offers a unique chance to support the marketing efforts of our organization by strategically using art and culture to promote progressive policies, practices, and community initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with our team to develop and implement multi-platform marketing campaigns that highlight the importance of cultural engagement in our collective liberation.

The Culture and Communications Intern will work primarily with the GI 305 team to engage community members, organize events, and develop strategies to advance GI 305’s mission.

If successful, the Culture & Communications intern will leverage their skills and knowledge to nurture a culture that produces sustainable, community-driven economic development. This position offers a significant level of growth and exposure to an individual seeking to advance a career in community organizing and grassroots efforts, and/or the product design industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement campaigns that use art, music, storytelling and media to promote guaranteed income.
  • Assist in creating content for social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication channels to amplify GI 305’s message and engage with our community.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating community events, workshops, and meetings that promote dialogue, awareness, and action.
  • Conduct research on partnerships to support our cultural organizing efforts.
  • Support product-thinking and brand strategy workshops led by GI 305’s Creative Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Commitment to eliminating barriers and creating opportunities for community members through advocacy, community organizing and narrative change.
  • Academic, knowledge and/or experiences associated with organizing and public policy.
  • Experience working on issues impacting people from marginalized communities is preferred.
  • Experience with marketing and/or organizing is preferred.
  • Individuals with lived experience with the criminal legal system are strongly encouraged to apply.
