In 1940, after 14 years at The Miami Herald, public relations pioneer Everett “Ev” Clay founded what is today Florida’s oldest public relations firm. He was a founding member of the Public Relations Society of America’s Miami chapter, established in 1955, and received the chapter’s first lifetime achievement award. In 1988, PRSA Miami Chapter established an endowed scholarship fund in Ev Clay’s memory to provide assistance to promising South Florida public relations students who demonstrate academic performance, aptitude and financial need.
In 2023, the Ev Clay/PRSA Miami Chapter Endowment Fund will award up to eight $3,750 scholarships for undergraduate or graduate study, selecting up to two students from each of the following South Florida schools: Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, Miami Dade College and the University of Miami. Recipients will be notified in August and scholarships will be presented at the annual Ev Clay/PRSA Miami Chapter Endowment Fund Luncheon this fall.
