The Communications Intern supports the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department, as directed.
Essential Functions
- Aid with day-to-day operations of entire department.
- Assist in preparation of Marlins game notes and lineups during regular season; compile, print and distribute all game day materials for media.
- Responsible for completing and maintaining other special projects related to team and player performances that arise throughout the year, such as tracking all player milestones and Minor League weekly/monthly awards.
- Assist with events and press conferences as needed; aid with publicizing the Marlins’ charitable, community, and marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with the department in drafting media advisories and press releases pertaining to baseball and business initiatives.
- Research assistance for baseball media relations and broadcasting.
- Prepare the press box and assist with credential distribution for all home games.
- Responsible for compiling and disseminating daily digital news clips pertaining to the organization.
- Assist in production and content writing for team digital and print publications, including media guide, season summary, gameday program, and alumni newsletter.
- Attend weekly Communications Department meetings and actively participate by sharing ideas and feedback.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Extremely organized, detail oriented, accountable, and self-sufficient.
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possess excellent computer skills that include, but are not limited to, Word, Excel, Desktop Publishing (InDesign).
- Ability to work during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays, with an emphasis on gameday responsibilities.
Eligibility
- Enrolled full time in an accredited university or college
- Can meet the program time commitments: January 16th through October 31st
- During the Spring/Fall Semesters: work not to exceed 30 hours per week
- During Summer Break: 40 hours per week
- Attend a Monthly Lunch & Learn with department leaders
- Participate in a Volunteer Day with the Miami Marlins Foundation
