The School of Communication’s Stein Family Career Center is seeking a highly motivated and creative student employee to join our team as a Student Assistant – Marketing & Events Coordinator. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the fields of marketing and event management while contributing to the SoC’s campus community.
Position Overview:
The Marketing & Events Coordinator will work closely with our Programs Manager to assist in creating and implementing marketing strategies and organizing career-related events. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for marketing, event coordination, and helping their fellow students succeed.
Responsibilities
- Marketing Support
- Assist in developing and executing marketing campaigns to promote Career Center services and events.
- Create engaging and visually appealing content for various digital platforms, including the Weekly Wire, social media, & the school website,
- Contribute to various writing projects, such as press releases, promotional materials, and newsletters, as needed.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing efforts, offering insights and recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with Career Center staff to maintain consistent branding and messaging.
- Event Planning
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing career-related events, including workshops, job fairs, employer panels, and networking sessions.
- Coordinate logistics, such as venue selection, catering, event materials, and equipment.
- Support event promotion and outreach to students and employers.
- Collect feedback and conduct post-event evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- Student Engagement
- Engage with students to understand their needs and gather feedback on Career Center services and events.
- Provide information and assistance to students in navigating the career resources available.
- Handle administrative tasks (i.e., answering emails, phone calls, filing, etc.)
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with a focus on communication, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
- Must qualify for Federal Work Study.
- Strong interest and knowledge in marketing and event planning
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and design software.
- A proactive and creative mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Prior marketing & event planning experience is a plus but not required.
Duration
- This is a part-time internship position, requiring a commitment of 15-20 hours per week. The internship is expected to last throughout the academic year (August 2023 – May 2024), with potential to extend into the following year.
