The University of Miami School of Communication proudly announces its Master’s in Advertising program, a strategic pathway into the dynamic advertising industry.
In today’s cluttered advertising landscape, effective messaging requires more than creativity – it demands strategic thinking and consumer insight. The 36-credit curriculum emphasizes advertising strategy and consumer analytics, equipping graduates with expertise to create campaigns that both reach and resonate with target audiences.
“Our new Advertising Master’s program is all about combining Miami’s vibrant, culturally diverse environment with cutting-edge research from our expert faculty,” said Dr. Wanhsiu “Sunny” Tsai, chair of the Department of Strategic Communication. “With courses like International Advertising and Artificial Intelligence for Advertising, we’re preparing students to thrive in today’s dynamic advertising world.”
Ranked by Niche.com among the 2025 Best Colleges with Advertising Degrees in America, the University of Miami now offers an M.A. in Advertising that extends the strength of its existing undergraduate program into advanced graduate study. With an emphasis on strategic planning, data analytics, brand management, and cross-cultural communication, the program includes courses such as:
- Consumer Insights & Engagement Strategies
- Project Management for Advertising
- The Business of Advertising Account Management
- Advertising Entrepreneurship
- Social Media Strategies
“The new M.A. in Advertising has much to offer to an array of students, whether they come from business, music, media, education, public policy, the medical field, or many others. This is an ideal opportunity for students to chart their career path toward further specialization or re-orient in an entirely new direction,” explains the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Dr. Christina Lane.
Students benefit from small class sizes and one-on-one mentorship with faculty who bring real-world experience from leading advertising agencies, global brands, and entrepreneurial ventures. In addition, the program offers access to two of UM’s signature advertising-focused student opportunities: Ad Group, a student organization recognized by the American Advertising Federation, and Orange Umbrella, UM’s student-run communication consultancy that works with local and national clients on branding, strategy, and creative execution.
No GRE is required for admission. Applications for Fall 2025 are due by July 15, 2025.
