
The Division of Continuing and International Education (including UOnline) seeks a student intern for Fall 2024 to work with the DCIE/UOnline communications team to create and share compelling news stories and social media content about student success, DCIE and UOnline programs, events, faculty, and other newsworthy developments.
The Communication Intern’s primary responsibility will be to write news articles for the website and produce social media content for multiple platforms, using Canva, Sprout and other tools.
This position is open to full-time enrolled students at the University of Miami and will report to the DCIE Communications Director. The intern will gain hands-on experience conducting interviews, writing news articles, and creating social media content. In addition, the intern can receive up to 3 internship credit hours through their major.
The intern will work a maximum of 20 hours a week and must have availability during the day. Most of the work will be completed remotely, although occasional meetings with the Communications Director will be scheduled in-person at the Coral Gables campus. Depending on availability, the intern may occasionally be asked to attend and write about events that occur in the evening or on weekends, though this is not common.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting interviews and writing news articles
- Preparing social media content, including photos, videos and text, using Canva and Sprout
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Experience writing news articles (either through a class or internship)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to multitask and take on new tasks as assigned
- Good news judgement
- Experience with social media, including Canva and Sprout, is desired but not required.
