The Associated Press seeks talented, ambitious and diverse college students and recent graduates for its 2024 Elections Team. The Associated Press is an independent global news organization dedicated to factual reporting. Founded in 1846, AP is the most trusted source of fast, accurate, unbiased news in all formats.

As a Vote Entry Operator (VEO) for the Associated Press, you will play a critical role in the 2024 Election Year and possibly in later elections, inputting vote totals from stringers and websites in counties and cities nationwide, for newspaper, broadcast and internet customers worldwide. These are flexible, fully remote, paid positions that require certain skills, equipment and time commitment.

Who We Are Looking For:

  1. VEOs are task-oriented critical thinkers with an eye/ear for
    accuracy who possess great listening and verbal skills.
  2. VEOs need a laptop or desktop computer with Windows 10 or a
    Mac (OS v10.8.1 or higher).
  3. Operators need a cell phone to interface with AP’s
    multifactor authentication security process and for direct
    communication with the AP staff, as needed.
  4. A second monitor is preferred but not required.
  5. Operators will be paid for time spent for all the following areas
    of involvement:
  • Onboarding to the AP’s proprietary election software.
  • Pre-recorded training sessions to learn AP applications.
  • Live training sessions to become proficient in AP processes.
  • Election Night (approx. 6pm-1am ET) and the days after for
    Extended Tabulation and Verification (if selected and available).
