As the sun set in Downtown Miami on Oct. 25, the JW Marriott Marquis lit up with the arrival of local public figures, Miami Children’s Health Foundation Board of Directors, and the children of the foundation for the annual Miami Children’s Health Foundation Hope Diamond Ball Affair.

The event set to raise thousands by the end of the night and as the numbers tallied up, PREP students worked diligently with event managers and staff to make sure every moment was captured; making the event an unforgettable night for the guests and children of the foundation.

“I learned sometimes you have to adjust based on the situation given to you in creative ways. Today, I had to record Instagram video interviews, edit them on the spot and send it to the Miami Children’s Health Foundation Instagram, instantly,” said PREP student Elizabeth Tran.

PREP students also experienced the details and preparation that happen moments before an event. Students learn the organization and time management needed for such an event to run smoothly and successfully. Working the red carpet, posting on social sites and assisting public relations professionals were some PREP student responsibilities.

“I was nervous, but the nerves quickly disappeared when our Miami Children’s Health Foundation mentors gave us our tasks and the tools to success. At the end of the night I had learned so much and only wished to do it again, it was a great and productive experience,” stated first year PREP student, Valeria Briceno.
