
Hallmark: 2025 Creative Summer Internships are on-site hybrid at their recently renovated headquarters in Kansas City, MO. Relocation and housing assistance is provided for interns whose permanent address is located outside of the KC metro area. The intern program is 12 weeks long beginning in late May and ending in early August.
The Creative Summer Internship Application deadline is Saturday, March 15, 2025. An uploaded PDF portfolio or sample sheet is required to be considered (students can also include a link to their portfolio website, but only as a supplement to the portfolio or sample sheet they upload). We anticipate making final offers by Friday, April 4th.
3D Design & Illustration (HMKIN003930)
Hallmark is home to some of the most uniquely talented character artists, sculptors, modeling artists, engineers, and illustrators in the country. If you are a conceptual thinker who loves to develop characters and tell stories through illustration, animation, sculpting, and design, this team could be the perfect place for you! In this role, you will be involved in every step of the creative process from idea to shelf, including brainstorming, concept sketching, character development, digital rendering/modeling, prototyping, product engineering (including experimenting with light, sound, motion, and magic!), and creating final product solutions. As an Illustration Intern in Hallmark’s Visual Studios, you’ll have the opportunity to leverage consumer insights and visual trends to create original illustration for a variety of different 2D and 3D consumer product formats. Hallmark’s illustrators conceptualize ideas, creating original content for style guides & collections, ideate for product specific needs, and translate archival artwork into relevant new content. Visual Studios illustration is leveraged on a wide range of social expression products and platforms, including greeting cards, gift books, gift wrap and bags, 3D ornament & gift collections, digital solutions including all forms of marketing & promotional material, packaging, and more! In this role, you will work collaboratively, mentored by best-in-class Hallmark creative talent developing your unique style and voice as you bring ideas to life for the Hallmark consumer.
Graphic Designer, Visual Merchandising (2024C003922)
Hallmark’s Global Visual Merchandising Studio is a strategic and dedicated studio made up of graphic and production designers, visual merchandisers, fixture and environmental designers, and writers. We create environmental signage, wayfinding, and fixture solutions for retailers including Hallmark Gold Crown, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and grocery, around the globe. We deliver a shopper experience that is easy to shop, showcases innovation and is unmistakably, recognizably Hallmark.
As a Graphic Design Intern in Hallmark’s Global Visual Merchandising Studio, you’ll have the opportunity to develop Hallmark-branded merchandising solutions including signage, wayfinding and other in-store graphics based on product, retailer, and consumer needs. During your internship, you’ll work on Visual Merchandise signing systems as well as packaging systems. We are seeking a creative thinker and problem solver who thinks holistically about design problems including marketing campaign design, package design, and environmental design.
