Michel Dupagne joined the School of Communication as an Assistant Professor in 1994. He earned tenure in 2000 and was promoted to the Professor rank in 2011.
Dupagne co-authored High-Definition Television: A Global Perspective and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in such journals as the Journal of Media Economics, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Telecommunications Policy. He serves on the editorial boards of American Communication Journal, Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media, Journal of Media Economics, and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
At UM, he was the School webmaster for eight years, headed video streaming activities for three years, and served on the WVUM Advisory Board for nine years. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Dupagne gained some production experience by interning at WSMV-TV (Nashville), RTBF (Brussels, Belgium), and Community Access Television/Viacom Cablevision (Nashville).
He is the faculty advisor of the Media Management Association.
