Professor and Graduate Program Director
Michel Dupagne is a Professor and Graduate Program Director of Media Management in the Department of Journalism and Media Management at the University of Miami.
He joined the School of Communication as an Assistant Professor in 1994 and earned tenure in 2000 before being promoted to Professor rank in 2011. Dupagne spent the 2018-2019 academic year in the School of Media and Communication at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
He co-authored High-Definition Television: A Global Perspective and has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in such journals as the Journal of Media Economics, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Telecommunications Policy. He serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Media Economics and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
At the University of Miami, he was the School webmaster for eight years, headed video streaming activities for three years, and served on the WVUM Advisory Board for nine years. He was the faculty advisor of the Media Management association from 2012 to 2024. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Dupagne gained production experience by interning at WSMV-TV (Nashville), RTBF (Brussels, Belgium), and Community Access Television/Viacom Cablevision (Nashville).
