Global engagement
Mission
Our mission is to recognize and enhance global engagement for social impact at the School of Communication as a significant component of the school’s work and identity. We consider global activities as composed of those having an international, transnational, or translocal focus. We leverage our location in a global city with hemispheric importance, as well as our academic networks reaching around the world.
Goals
We seek to support and highlight global engagement through:
- Faculty research, creative activities and professional practice
- Community-based research and engaged pedagogy
- Teaching and learning
- Our organizational culture
- Our global presence and external networks
Distinguished Fellows in Global Communication
This special fellowship provides qualified School of Communication Ph.D. or M.F.A. students with a primary focus on global, transnational, cross-cultural or diasporic aspects of communication research or creative work with release time for one semester, as well as an additional $2,500 stipend to use for research, creative work, to attend international conferences or other activities related to their project. The deadline for applications is December 1.
