Kim Grinfeder is Professor and Founding Chair of the Department of Interactive Media in the School of Communication at the University of Miami. He also directs Human-Centered Computing at the Frost Institute for Data Science and Computing and leads UMverse, the university’s AR/VR initiative. He founded the Department of Interactive Media in 2020 and developed its graduate and undergraduate programs, including the MFA in Interactive Media, the BSc in Immersive Media, and the MS in Experience and Information Design. His research and creative work centers on immersive media, extended reality, and human-centered computing, and his projects have been exhibited and recognized internationally, including the AWE Climate XR Prize and a Gold award at the Reimagine Education Awards. He has held principal or co-investigator roles on several externally funded projects. He received the University of Miami Provost’s Transdisciplinary Innovation Teaching Award in 2023.
