  • Palm Beach Circuit Judge Cymonie Rowe, B.S.C. ’94, was recognized with the “2018 Florida Bar Judge of the Year” award at the 2018 Florida Bar Annual Convention. The award was presented on June 14 during the Florida Bar Judicial Luncheon by Michael Higer, Florida Bar president. The convention was held June 13-15 in Orlando, FL and is an annual event hosted by the Florida Bar for Bar members and their families.

  • The University of Miami School of Communication is mourning the loss of its alumnus Mike McCormick, B.S.C. ’04, who passed away on Monday while covering extreme weather in North Carolina for WYFF News4. McCormick and photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer both died when a tree fell on their news van.

    McCormick joined WYFF News4 in 2007 as a reporter. Before that he worked in Arkansas at KHBS/KHOG.

  • USA TODAY has named University of Miami School of Communication alumna Maribel Perez Wadsworth, B.S.C. '93, as its publisher. This makes Perez Wadsworth, a Cuban-American, the first person of color to serve as the publication’s publisher. Wadsworth is the second woman to hold this position.
