Improving disaster preparation, evacuation, survival, and recovery for those vulnerable to natural hazards such as hurricanes is an ongoing challenge. A better public understanding of the timing and severity of risks can potentially improve decision making and minimize harm. The U-LINK & NOAA supported interdisciplinary team of researchers at the University of Miami have teamed up with the NOAA National Weather Service (including the National Hurricane Center), and the National Center for Atmospheric Research to improve visual communication of forecast risk and uncertainty for multi-hazard extreme weather events.
