Kyle Walkine

Ph.D. Student

Kyle Walkine has spent the past ten years blazing a trail of his own in the field of journalism in his home country of The Bahamas. A proud College of The Bahamas Alum, Kyle became the institution’s first graduate in its Bachelor of Arts in Media Journalism program. He has since gone on to receive a Master’s degree in Global Strategic Communication from Florida International University. Over his decade-long career in broadcasting, Kyle Walkine has made quite the name for himself. From beginning his career at Jones Communication Network in 2012, to a brief stint at the Tribune and eight years at The Nassau Guardian and Cable 12, he has covered it all. From the moments that gripped the nation like the passage of Hurricane Dorian, to the light-hearted stories that sought to inspire us all, Kyle shared them with the utmost professionalism.

Now a Ph.D. student at the University of Miami, Kyle’s research interests are in journalism as well as health communication. While in this program he lectures undergraduate Communication courses. Upon completion, he aims to enter academia full-time as a professor, while pursuing strategic communication consultancy. Some of his hobbies include watching football, hitting the gym or the beach and practicing yoga.
