Project Description
Dr. Michel Dupagne authored a chapter about the quantitative and qualitative methods used in media management and economics research in the second edition of the Handbook of Media Management and Economics. To identify methodological trends, the author analyzed the units of analysis, methodological approaches, data collection methods, uses of case study, sampling approaches, levels of statistical analysis, and types of statistical analysis in all research articles published in The International Journal on Media Management and the Journal of Media Economics from 2004 to 2016. The results revealed that the typical research article in these two journals was quantitative in nature, relied on secondary data, used nonprobability sampling, and applied regression analysis.
