Konstantia Kontaxis is an acclaimed producer, editor, and educator specializing in documentary and narrative filmmaking. She is a professor in the Department of Cinematic Arts and serves as the associate dean for research and creative activity at the University of Miami’s School of Communication.

Her award-winning films have been showcased worldwide, on television, in cinemas, and at major international festivals. Among her most recent works are Naked Ambition: Bunny Yeager (distributed by Music Box Films), Lifeline/Clyfford Still (released by Kino Lorber), Symphony in D and Sweet Dillard, broadcast across 140 U.S. markets via APT.

Kontaxis’ work has been screened at prestigious venues such as the Tribeca Film Festival, the Venice Art Biennale, the Busan International Film Festival, and Art Basel Miami Beach. Other key locations include New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Montreal, Paris, Athens, Madrid, and London.

Her contributions to filmmaking have earned numerous accolades, including awards from Moondance Film Festival, Cleveland Film Festival, Yorkton Film Festival, OnArt Film Festival, Miami Film Festival, UFVA, Park City Film Music Festival and Fine Arts Film Festival. She is also a four-time recipient of the regional National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Award.

She has received funding and support from renowned organizations such as the Knight Foundation, Florida Humanities Council, Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, and the Broward County Division of Cultural Affairs.

Beyond her film work, Kontaxis is an esteemed curator and media consultant, collaborating with institutions such as the Miami Dade College Museum of Art and Design, the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, Miami Art Museum, and Miami Art Central.

At the University of Miami, she has held multiple leadership positions, including chair of the Department of Cinematic Arts, director of the Center for Communication, Culture, and Change, director of the Motion Picture Program, steering committee member of the Women and Gender Studies Program, and curator/advisor for the Norton Herrick Center for Motion Picture Studies and Bill Cosford Cinema.
