Hui (“Anya”) Shi

“Hui (“Anya”) Shi, originally from Beijing, China, became a part of the doctoral program in the School of Communication at the University of Miami in 2023. Her research pursuits meet at the intersection of advertising and social change, brand activism, and global communication. Before joining UM, she earned an M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a dual B.A. in Communication from the University of Colorado at Denver and China Agricultural University.

Hui previously held positions as an Events Manager at Penn Wharton China Center and Admissions Officer at the College of International Education, Beijing Jiaotong University. As for long-term aspirations, she hopes to become a professor as well as take on an administrative role to facilitate global programs and international development. Outside of her academic pursuits, she finds joy in cooking, hitting the gym, and exploring different cultures through travel.
