Project Description
As a mother to an autistic son, Silvia Planas-Prats was aware that employment opportunities can be scarce for those with autism. Instead of shying away, she tackled this problem head on by founding Miami is Kind, an industrial bakery that makes it a priority to hire professionals with autism.
This video was produced in the Science Documentary: Autism class, co-taught by Jim Virga and Julia Dallman. Students collaborated with WPBT2 South Florida PBS to produce these videos. The course brings together student citizens across science, communication, and education to collaborate on content intended to reach audiences on multiple platforms.
